Arthur  J. Jordan, O.D.

Arthur J. Jordan, O.D., F.A.A.O.

Dr. Jordan is one of the founders of Northeastern Eye Institute and practices in our Scranton office, specializing in general optometry, pediatrics, binocular vision, and contact lenses. He is also the director of the optical, contact lens, and vision therapy services and is certified to provide pre- and post-operative care for photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) patients.

Dr. Arthur Jordan received his bachelor's degree in science, psychology, and philosophy from the University of Scranton. He earned his doctor of optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. Dr. Jordan completed postdoctoral work at the Gesell Institute for Child Development at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.

Dr. Jordan is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, the Pennsylvania Optometric Association, and the National Academy of Sports Vision. He is a member of the teaching staff at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and was appointed to the State Board of Optometry in 1989 by Governor Robert Casey and reappointed to the State Board in July of 1994.

Dr. Jordan is the founder of "Optical Options," a computer based company designed for dispensing and advanced business techniques in the ophthalmic field. He holds several patents and copyrights on the products offered through his company.

Dr. Arthur Jordan is also the founder and director of Binocular Vision Institute, an institute committed to the betterment of children and adults with regard to binocular vision problems, and reading and learning disabilities.

Dr. Jordan is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

Dr. Jordan received the Vanessen Award for excellence in patient care upon graduation from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and the Knight of Holy Sepulcher Award from Pope Paul in 1970. In 1982, Dr. Jordan received the "Man of the Year" award from the Pennsylvania Optometric Association.

Jerome  W. Jordan, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Jerome W. Jordan, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Jerome Jordan is one of the founders of Northeastern Eye Institute. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Scranton and his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He completed his Ophthalmology training at Geisinger Medical Center and then joined his father, Dr. James Jordan, and his brothers, Dr. Arthur and Dr. William Jordan, in practicing Ophthalmology in Scranton.

Dr. Jordan specializes in cataract surgery, performing small incision, no-stitch, no-needle cataract techniques. He has performed over 20,000 cataract operations. Along with his brother, Dr. William, he completed the first intraocular lens implant in Northeastern Pennsylvania. He is certified in the use of all types of implants, including those used for the correction of near and far vision. Dr. Jordan has also received sub-specialty certification in cataract surgery by the American Board of Eye Surgery.

Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Jordan is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology, the Outpatient Ophthalmic Society and the Lackawanna Medical Society, serving as its president in 1985.

Dr. Jordan is pleased to be joined in practice by his daughter, Dr. Beth Jordan-Flickinger and his son-in-law, Dr. Brad Flickinger. Dr. Jordan sees patients in Scranton, Honesdale, and Carbondale.

Dr. William Jordan is one of the founders of Northeastern Eye Institute. Dr. Jordan practices in our Scranton, Tunkhannock, Pittston, and Wilkes-Barre offices. He specializes in all ocular diseases and all surgical procedures involving the eye.

Dr. Jordan received his bachelor's degree from Villanova University and was awarded his medical doctorate from the University of Ottawa in Canada. He completed his internship at Harrisburg General Hospital and his residency at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. Prior to completing his residency, Dr. Jordan served as a Captain in the U.S. Army.

Dr. Jordan is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Jordan is also certified to perform laser refractive surgery.
Dr. Jordan is a member of the American Medical Association, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology, the Ophthalmology Society of Northeastern Pennsylvania, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Lackawanna County Medical Societies.

William H. Kehrli, M.D., F.A.C.S.

One of the founders of Northeastern Eye Institute, Dr. Kehrli practices at our Scranton office and specializes in diseases of the retina and surgery of the retina and vitreous.

Dr. Kehrli received his bachelor's degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and was awarded his medical doctorate from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Kehrli completed an internship at Charity Hospital on the campus of Tulane University. He served two years in the United States Army Medical Corps. He is a veteran of the Vietnam conflict where he served as Director of Anesthesia for the second Surgical MASH Unit. Dr. Kehrli completed a three year residency in ophthalmology and a one year fellowship in retinal and vitreous surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio.

Dr. Kehrli is board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Kehrli is a member of the Vitreous Society, the American Medical Association, the Pennsylvania Association of Ophthalmology, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the Lackawanna County Medical Society.

Randall R. Peairs, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Randall Peairs joined Northeastern Eye Institute in 1992 and practices in our Scranton office.

Dr. Peairs received his bachelor's degree from Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania and was awarded his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia. He completed an internship at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, a three-year residency in ophthalmology at Hahnemann, and a fellowship in vitreo-retinal diseases at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York.

Dr. Peairs is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Society of Retinal Specialists, the American Medical Association, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Lackawanna County Medical Society. He is an assistant professor of ophthalmology at Drexel University College of Medicine, Philadelphia.

Mary J. Boland Frattali, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Frattali practices in our Clarks Summit, Hamlin, and Scranton offices. She joined Northeastern Eye Institute in 1993, and is the third generation of her family to practice ophthalmology in the Scranton area.

Dr. Frattali received her bachelor's degree form the University of Scranton and was awarded her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. She completed an internship in internal medicine and received her training in ophthalmology at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia.

Dr. Frattali is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the Lackawanna County Medical Society.

Dr. Frattali is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with special interests in cataract surgery, glaucoma, and pediatric ophthalmology.

Dr. Arthur Jordan Jr. is a third generation eye doctor, following his grandfather, Dr. James S. Jordan, and father, Dr. Arthur J. Jordan. Dr. Jordan practices at our Scranton and Peckville offices.

Dr. Jordan is a graduate of Scranton Central High School and received his bachelor of science degree from the University of Scranton in 1991. He went on to earn his medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1995. He served his internship at Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Hospital in Binghamton, New York. During his internship, he was a clinical assistant professor for the internal medicine department. He also completed a three-year ophthalmology residency at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and served as chief resident from 1998 to 1999.

Dr. Jordan is a board certified comprehensive ophthalmologist with special interests that include cataract surgery, glaucoma, and neuro-ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Osteopathic Association, the American Osteopathic Colleges of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the Lackawanna County Medical Society. He is also a board member of the Lackawanna Lupus Society and the Lackawanna Association for the Blind.

Dr. William J. Jordan Jr., D.O. is a third generation eye doctor, following his grandfather, Dr. James S. Jordan and father, Dr. William J. Jordan.

Thomas S. Boland, M.D.

Dr. Thomas Boland joined Northeastern Eye Institute after service in the U.S. Air Force. He practices in our Scranton, Forty Fort, and Wilkes-Barre offices. Dr. Boland is the third generation of his family to practice ophthalmology in Northeastern Pennsylvania and he specializes in treating diseases of the cornea, LASIK and refractive surgery, and cataract surgery.

Dr. Boland received his bachelor's degree from the University of Scranton and was awarded his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington D.C. He completed his internship in internal medicine at Georgetown Medical Center, and his ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Boland is the former Chief of Ophthalmology at Keesler Air Force Medical Center in Biloxi, Mississippi. He later completed a fellowship in Corneal and Refractive Surgery at University Ophthalmic Consultants of Washington, DC.

Dr. Boland has extensive experience in corneal transplant surgery, and has performed thousands of LASIK and other refractive surgeries.

Dr. Boland is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology.

David DeRose, M.D.

Dr. DeRose joined Northeastern Eye Institute in November 1998. He practices in our Wilke-Barre and Hazleton offices. He specializes in diseases of the cornea, glaucoma, and refractive surgery, and is certified in PRK and LASIK refractive surgery procedures.

Dr. DeRose received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the University of Rochester, studied in an Applied Human Physiology masters program at Hahnemann University Hospital, Philadelphia, and received his Medical Degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine, Philadelphia, PA.

He completed a transitional internship at Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California and his ophthalmology residency at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. DeRose's post-residency studies included a Research Fellowship in Cornea and Glaucoma at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.

Dr. DeRose is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Medical Association, Pennsylvania Medical Society, Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Luzerne County Medical Society.

Dr. Rosiecki practices in our Green Ridge office at 1360 Wyoming Avenue.

Dr. Rosiecki received a bachelor's degree from the University of Scranton, Scranton, Pennsylvania and was awarded his medical doctorate from Cardinal Stritch School of Medicine, Loyola University, Chicago, Illinois. He completed an internship and residency in Ophthalmology at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, Pennsylvania. He served two years in the United States Army as an ophthalmologist at the Darnall Army Hospital, Fort Hood, Texas.

Dr. Rosiecki is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the Pennsylvania Association of Ophthalmology, and of the Pennsylvania and Lackawanna County Medical Societies.

Dr. Joseph Cimochowski practices in our Scranton office. He joined Northeastern Eye Institute in 1974.

Dr. Cimochowski is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and received his doctor of optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. He served his externship at Temple Hospital in Philadelphia.

Dr. Cimochowski is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a member of the American Optometric Association, the Pennsylvania Optometric Association, and the Northeast Optometric Society. Dr. Cimochowski is also a charter member of the Contact Lens Section of the American Optometric Association. He received the Optometric Recognition Award in 1980, as well as certificates of award from both the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and the Northeast Optometric Society for outstanding service to his profession.

Dr. Cimochowski specializes in contact lenses and general optometry, and is certified to provide pre- and post-operative care to photo refractive keratectomy (PRK) and LASIK patients.

Dr. Joseph Shovlin joined Northeastern Eye Institute in 1985 and practices in our Clarks Summit and Scranton offices.

Dr. Shovlin earned his bachelor's degree from Gettysburg College, and received his doctor of optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. He is a member of the adjunct faculty at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.

Dr. Shovlin is a board certified optometrist, a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a Distinguished Practitioner of the National Academy of Practice in Optometry, and a member of the American Optometric Association and the Pennsylvania Optometric Association. He is a Diplomate and Chair of the Section on Cornea and Contact Lenses of the American Academy of Optometry, past Chair of the Contact Lens Section of the American Optometric Association, and a former member of the of the Ophthalmic Advisory Panel of the Food and Drug Administration. He is a member of the International Society of Refractive Surgery, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the American Public Health Association. Currently, he is a member of the National Advisory Eye Council of the National Eye Institute, which is a part of the National Institutes of Health, and an advisory panel member of the Pennsylvania Lions Sight Conservation and Eye Research Foundation.

He serves as the Associate Clinical Editor of the Review of Contact Lenses, contributing editor of Optometric Management, and consulting editor of the Contact Lens Spectrum and Primary Care Optometry News. He is on the journal review board of Optometry Clinics, the Journal of the American Optometric Association, and has held editorial board appointments to International Contact Lens Clinic and Making Contact. He has over 300 publications to his credit, including 20 chapters in 17 texts.

Dr. Shovlin has received Academic Distinction and the Clinical Excellence Award from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.  He is listed in Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare and Who's Who in Science and Engineering. Dr. Shovlin specializes in primary eye care and contact lenses.

Dr. Mary Elizabeth Jordan Flickinger practices in our Scranton and Pittston offices. She is the daughter of Dr. Jerome W. Jordan, one of the founders of Northeastern Eye Institute, and the granddaughter of Dr. James S. Jordan. She joined Northeastern Eye Institute in 1999 and is the third generation of her family to practice in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Dr. Flickinger received her bachelor's degree from Villanova University and received her doctor of optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia.
Dr. Flickinger served her externship at both Northeastern Eye Institute and Ft. Jackson Army Base in Columbia, South Carolina, where she provided eye care to nearly two thousand soldiers. While at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, she was granted clinic honors throughout the entire course of her internship and externship, with special recognition in pediatric optometry.

Dr. Flickinger is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Pennsylvania Optometric Association, the American Academy of Optometry, and the Northeast Pennsylvania Optometric Society.

Dr. Flickinger specializes in pediatrics, contact lenses, and general optometry, and is certified to provide pre- and post-operative care to photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and LASIK patients. She co-directs the Binocular Vision Center at Northeastern Eye Institute and is a certified practitioner in the Collaborative Longitudinal Evaluation of Keratoaconus (CLEK) Study.

James  Bradley Flickinger, O.D.

Dr. James Bradley Flickinger practices in our Scranton and North State Street Clarks Summit offices. He joined Northeastern Eye Institute in 1999. He is the son-in-law of Dr. Jerome W. Jordan, one of the founders of Northeastern Eye Institute.

Dr. Flickinger received his bachelor's degree from Shippensburg University and earned his doctor of optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. Dr. Flickinger served his externship at both Northeastern Eye Institute and Ft. Jackson Army Base in Columbia, South Carolina, where he rendered eye care to nearly two thousand soldiers. While at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, he was granted clinic honors throughout the entire course of his internship and extern ship. He also received the "Clinical Excellence Award" from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.

Dr. Flickinger completed a Fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at Northeastern Eye Institute. He specializes in contact lenses, disorders of the cornea, pre- and post-operative care for LASIK, and general optometry. He is a certified practitioner in the Collaborative Longitudinal Evaluation of Keratoconus (CLEK) Study.

Dr. Flickinger is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

Dr. Flickinger is the new director of Northeastern Eye Institute's Contact Lens Department. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Scranton Tomorrow. He and his wife, Dr. Beth Flickinger, reside in Clarks Summit with their two children.

Dr. Michael Boland joined Northeastern Eye Institute in 1998 and practices at our Plains, Clarks Summit, Pittston, and Wilkes-Barre offices. He is the third generation of his family to practice eye care in Northeastern Pennsylvania, and specializes in primary eye care, pediatrics, and contact lenses.

Dr. Boland received his bachelor of arts degree from Georgetown University in Washington D.C., and went on to earn his bachelor of science degree and doctor of optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia.

Dr. Boland is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

Dr. Boland is board certified in therapeutic management of ocular disease. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Pennsylvania Optometric Association, and is a candidate for fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry. From October 1998 to 2001, Dr. Boland was the optometric director of the Laser Center at Northeastern Eye Institute, where he specialized in the pre- and post-operative care of LASIK patients. In 1998, he received the Conforma Contact Lens Award of Excellence in recognition for his outstanding academic and clinical performance in his contact lens practice. Dr. Boland has published articles in Contact Lens Spectrum, Optometric Management, and Review of Contact Lenses. Dr. Boland serves as an assistant clinical editor for Review of Contact Lenses.

Mary  Ann DeSando, O.D.

Mary Ann DeSando, O.D.

Dr. DeSando joined Northeastern Eye Institute in 1989 and practices in our Scranton and Carbondale offices.

Dr. DeSando received her bachelor's degree from the University of Scranton and received her doctor of optometry from the College of Optometry in Philadelphia. She completed her externship at Northeastern Eye Institute and at Eye Associates in New Haven, Connecticut.

Dr. DeSando is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Pennsylvania Optometric Association, and the Northeast Pennsylvania Optometric Society.
The Bureau of Blindness and Visual Services in the Department of Welfare recognizes Dr. De Sando as a state approved low-vision specialist. She also co-directs the Binocular Vision Center at Northeastern Eye Institute located at our Peckville facility.

Dr. DeSando specializes in pediatrics, low vision, and general optometry with certification to provide pre- and post-operative care to photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and LASIK patients.

John W. Hubbard, O.D.

Dr. Hubbard joined Northeastern Eye Institute in 1990 and practices in our Honesdale office.

Dr. Hubbard received his bachelor's degree from Delaware Valley College, Doylestown. He was awarded his doctor of optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Philadelphia. He did his externship in low and subnormal vision at the Low Vision Clinic at Allied Health, Scranton. He also did an externship of developmental children's vision at Gesell Institute for Child Development at Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut.

Kenneth W. Alpha, O.D.

Dr. Kenneth Alpha practices in our Pittston, Tunkhannock, and Peckville offices. He joined Northeastern Eye Institute in 1991. Dr. Alpha has practiced optometry since 1983.

Dr. Alpha received his bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Pottsdam and his doctor of optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Philadelphia. He did his optometric externship at Northeastern Eye Institute.

From 1983 to 1986, Dr. Alpha served in the U.S. Air Force at Hurlbart Field, Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. He achieved a rank of Captain and served as chief of Optometry Service.

Dr. Alpha is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Northeast Pennsylvania Optometric Association.

He specializes in geriatric vision, contact lenses, and general optometry with certification to provide pre- and post-operative care for LASIK.

Gerard J. Hildebrand, O.D., F.A.A.O.

Dr. Hildebrand practices in Northeastern Eye Institute’s Tunkhannock office.

Dr. Hildebrand is a  “Cum Laude” graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and received his Doctor of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, PhilaGerard J. Hildebrand, O.D.delphia, Pennsylvania. While in optometry school, he completed externships in Primary Care at The Eye Institute and Naval Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He also completed an internship Anterior Segment Ophthalmology and Primary Care Optometry at Jordan Eye Associates, Scranton Pennsylvania.  He is certified in pre and postoperative care for refractive and cataract surgery.

Dr. Hildebrand is a Board Certified Optometrist, a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and also a member of the American Optometric Association, the Northeastern Pennsylvania Optometric Society and a member of the Contact Lens Section of the American Optometric Association.

He has served as a guest lecturer to the Medical Staff of Tyler Memorial Hospital, Tunkhannock Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, Tunkhannock School District, Elk Lake School District, Abington Heights School District and Keystone College.

Prior to Joining Northeastern Eye Institute in 1996, Dr. Hildebrand was in private practice for 16 years.  He also served organized optometry for several years and is past president of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Optometric Society and was awarded Pennsylvania’s Optometrist of the Year in 1992.

Dr. Hildebrand specializes in general optometry with subspecialties in Contact lenses, pre and postoperative care and multi-disciplinary interaction.

Dr. Mongiello joined Northeastern Eye Institute in 1996 and practices in our Scranton and Peckville offices.

Dr. Mongiello received her bachelor's degree from the University of Scranton and received her doctor of optometry form the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia.

Dr. Mongiello served externships in pediatrics, contact lenses, primary eye care, and pathology both locally and in Philadelphia. She is certified to provide pre- and post-operative care for photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and LASIK patients and specializes in primary eye care and contact lenses.

Dr. Mongiello is a member of the American Optometric Association, and the Northeast Pennsylvania Optometric Society.

Barbara A. Caputo-Fox, O.D.

Dr. Barbara Caputo-Fox practices in our Scranton and Peckville offices. She has been in practice since 1989.

Dr. Caputo-Fox attended Keystone College and the University of Scranton. She received her bachelor's of science degree in pharmacy from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science in 1982 and was awarded her doctor of optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1988. During that time she completed externships at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre and the William Feinbloom Low Vision Center of the Eye Institute in Philadelphia. She also completed the residency program at the Eye Institute in Philadelphia. During her residency, she was responsible for writing and teaching the oculosystemic drug relationships courses.

Dr. Caputo-Fox is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Pennsylvania Optometric Association, and the Northeast Chapter of the Pennsylvania Optometric Association.

Dr. Caputo-Fox is also a consultant and provides low-vision services to Blindness and Visual Services of Pennsylvania, and sits on the board for the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind.

Dr. Gary Frank practices in our Wilkes-Barre and Lehighton offices. He joined Northeastern Eye Institute in 1997. He was associated with Dr. Brown's Eyecare from 1968 to 1997. Dr. Frank attended Wilkes College and the University of Scranton and received his doctor of optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Philadelphia. He is a primary care optometrist.

Dr. Frank is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Northeast Optometric Association. He is certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease, and pre-op and post-op care for Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) and LASIK. He specializes in contact lenses.

He attended Kings College and received his bachelor's degree and doctor of optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry. A member of the American Optometric Association and the Pennsylvania Optometric Association, Dr. Brown specializes in general optometry, contact lenses, geriatric eye care, and treatment and management of ocular diseases. He is certified in pre-op and post-op care for Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) and LASIK.

John P. Menzel, O.D.

Dr. John Menzel practices in the Wilkes-Barre, Lehighton, Hazleton, and Bloomsburg offices. Dr. Menzel joined the staff of Northeastern Eye Institute in 1997. He was associated with Dr. Brown's Eyecare since 1975. Dr. Menzel attended Luzerne County Community College, the University of Scranton, and Temple School of Pharmacy before receiving his bachelor's and doctor of optometry degrees from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.

Dr. Menzel is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Pennsylvania Optometric Association. Currently, he is serving as treasurer of the Northeastern Optometric Association. He is certified in pre-op and post-op care for Photorefractive Keratectomy and (PRK) and LASIK. Dr. Menzel practices general optometry with special interests in contact lenses and geriatric eye care.

Michael J. Rymar

Michael J. Rymar, O.D.

Dr. Rymar joined Northeastern Eye Institute in August 1998, after practicing with Family Vision Center since 1997. He is a graduate of Wilkes University and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Philadelphia, PA. While at the College of Optometry, Dr. Rymar completed externships focusing on both pediatric and geriatric eye care, along with extensive training in both specialty contact lenses and eye disease.

Dr. Rymar practices in our Hazleton and Laurel Mall offices. His practice includes pediatric and geriatric eye care along with full contact lens services and ocular health evaluations.

Dr. Rymar is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Pennsylvania Optometric Association. He works in conjunction with our refractive surgeons and is certified in pre- and post-operative care for PRK and LASIK refractive surgery. He specializes in primary eye care including contact lenses, pediatric, and geriatric optometry. He lives in Mountaintop with his wife and two children.

Curtis L. Goodwin, O.D.

Dr. Goodwin joined Northeastern Eye Institute in January 1999, practicing in our Shavertown, Luzerne County location. Prior to joining Northeastern Eye Institute, he had a private practice in Shavertown since 1979. He is a graduate of East Stroudsburg State College and Indiana University College of Optometry. Dr. Goodwin completed externships at Ft. Knox Ophthalmology/Optometry Clinic in Kentucky, Indianapolis Low Vision Clinic, and Bloomington Contact lens research clinic. He was the recipient of the Wesley Jessen Contact Lens Research Award.

Dr. Goodwin is certified in the pre- and post -operative care for PRK and LASIK. In 1997, he was certified for treatment and management of ocular diseases. Dr. Goodwin is a member of the Northeast Optometric Society, Pennsylvania Optometric Society, and the American Optometric Association. He is a member of VOSH – Volunteers of Optometric Service to Humanity. Dr. Goodwin specializes in pediatric optometry, contact lenses, laser vision correction, and low vision.

Stuart Kaufman, O.D.

Dr. Kaufman practices in our Montrose office. He joined Northeastern Eye Institute in 2000. He has practiced at Montrose Eye Associates since 1973. Dr. Kaufman completed his undergraduate studies at Brooklyn College of CUNY and his graduate work at Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He holds a bachelor of science degree in Physiological Optics, and received his doctor of optometry degree in 1971.

Dr. Kaufman did his residency training at the SUNY College of Optometry Optometric Center in New York City. He was appointed to the attending staff at the SUNY Clinic in 1971 and practiced there until his move to Montrose, PA in 1973.

He is currently on staff at Endless Mountains Health Systems in Montrose, and Barnes-Kasson Hospital in Susquehanna. He is licensed to practice in New York State and New Jersey as well as Pennsylvania, and is a 30 year member of the American Optometric Association and the Pennsylvania Optometric Association.

Melanie Brown DeMichele, O.D.

Dr. Melaine Ann Brown DeMichele practices in our Hamlin, Mountaintop, Laurel Mall, and Scranton offices. She joined Northeastern Eye Institute in 2000.

Dr. DeMichele received her bachelor's degree from Villanova University, Philadelphia, and her doctor of optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia.

She served her externship at the Philadelphia Veterans' Administration Hospital where she provided primary care, ocular disease, and low-vision examinations. While at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, she was awarded clinical honors throughout the course of her externships and internship, and received from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry its Clinical Excellence Award.

Dr. DeMichele is a member of both the American Optometric Association and the Pennsylvania Optometric Association.

She specializes in contact lenses, pre- and post-operative care for Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) and LASIK, binocular vision training, and general optometry for pediatric and adult patients.

Dr. Charnetsky practices in our offices in Blakely and Mountaintop. She joined Northeastern Eye Institute in 2005.

Dr. Charnetsky received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Wilkes University and Doctor of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Elkins Park, PA.

Dr. Charnetsky received clinical honors in each of her externship rotations to include primary care and contact lens, ocular disease and pediatrics.

She completed a Fellowship in pre and post operative care of cataract and refractive surgery at Bucci Laser Vision, Wilkes-Barre.

Dr. Charnetsky is a member of the American Optometric Association, Pennsylvania Optometric Association, Northeast Pennsylvania Optometric Society and the Kosciuszko Foundation.

Dr. Charntesky's main interests are in ocular disease and geriatric eye care.

Carlene Siracuse, O.D.

Dr. Carlene Siracuse joined Northeastern Eye Institute in 2007 and practices in our Pittston, Hamlin and Scranton offices.

Dr. Siracuse is a native of the Wyoming Valley and graduated from Wyoming Area High School. She received her bachelor's degree from Ithaca College and received her doctor of optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. Dr. Siracuse trained at prominent eye care institutions in Pennsylvania.

A member of the American Optometric Association, and the Northeast Pennsylvania Optometric Society, Dr. Siracuse specializes in family eye care and contact lenses.

Jennifer Randle, O.D.

Dr. Jennifer Randle joined Northeastern Eye Institute in July 2006 and practices in the Cornea and Refractive Surgery Service of our Scranton office.

A 2001 graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA, Dr. Randle went on to earn her doctor of optometry degree in 2005 from The Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. While at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry she earned clinical honors throughout each of her internship and externship programs. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society, Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society, and received the Cooper Vision Excellence in Contact Lens Award, an honorable mention for the PCO Alumni Association Award, and Clinical Excellence in low vision and pediatric care upon graduation. After graduation, Dr. Randle completed a one year Cornea Residency at Northeastern Eye Institute. This program emphasized pre and post-operative co-management of surgical refractive cases, emergency optometric care, corneal disease management, and specialty contact lens fittings.

Dr. Randle is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Pennsylvania Optometric Association, the American Academy of Optometry, and the Northeast Pennsylvania Optometric Society.

She specializes in cornea and refractive care and emergency optometric care. Dr. Randle is currently working on completing her fellowship status in the American Academy of Optometry.

Christopher S. Jordan, M.D.

Dr. Christopher Jordan, a Fellowship-Trained Cornea and Refractive Surgery Specialist, practices in our Scranton, Honesdale and Carbondale offices. He follows in the footsteps of his father, Jerome W. Jordan, M.D and his grandfather, James S. Jordan, M.D. as a third-generation ophthalmologist practicing in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

A graduate of the University of Scranton, Dr. Jordan received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, PA. He completed his Ophthalmology Residency at the Drexel University College of Medicine also in Philadelphia, PA. From there, he spent 15 months in an intensive Cornea and Refractive Surgery Fellowship with Corneal Consultants of Indiana and Price Vision Group, Indianapolis, IN.

Dr. Jordan is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology.

He specializes in cornea and refractive surgery as well as general ophthalmology including the treatment of cataracts and glaucoma.

Lindsey Conners Kelly, O.D.

Dr. Lindsey Connors Kelly joined Northeastern Eye Institute in August 2008 and practices at the new Pocono Office located in Pocono Summit Plaza. 

After receiving her bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from Lehigh University, Dr. Kelly went on to earn her doctor of optometry degree from The Pennsylvania College of Optometry.  During her time at PCO she was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society, received the Dean’s Scholarship Award and graduated with high honors. Dr. Kelly received a clinical excellence citation in each of her externship rotations including primary care, contact lens, ocular disease and pediatrics. 

Before joining Northeastern Eye Institute, Dr. Kelly served at a private practice in Easton, Pennsylvania.  Her main interests are geriatric eye care, ocular disease, and contact lenses. 

Dr. Kelly is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Pennsylvania Optometric Association.
