Vision Correction Hazleton

Northeastern Eye Institute Serving Patients in Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Hazelton, and Surrounding Areas in Lackawanna, Luzerne and Other Counties

Vision Correction HazletonThe ability to use both eyes together to produce single, simultaneous vision is referred to as binocular vision. It is binocular vision that is employed with eye movement control, focus, eye-hand coordination, fine and gross motor skills, figure-ground perception, and eye-teaming abilities. Binocular vision disorders can be present even in eyes with good visual acuity.

Binocular Vision and Vision Therapy at NEI

Binocular vision skills are developed, and therefore can be improved with the help of the Binocular Vision experts at NEI. NEI offers a vision therapy program to remediate such abnormalities.

Vision therapy is an individual treatment program prescribed to improve visual difficulties that cannot be treated with glasses, contact lenses, lens implants, or laser vision correction. The goal is to help patients see more clearly, efficiently, and comfortably. Each patient is treated individually based upon his or her condition, and the program consists of two 30-minute sessions scheduled twice a week under the direction of an optometrist. In addition, the patient is given home-based activities to support the process. Sensorimotor evaluations are conducted periodically and the program may take four to five months to complete.

Our Binocular Vision Center is located at our Peckville office and is headed by our binocular vision specialist, Mary Ann T. DeSando, OD.
